Audi initially announces that they will not be making an RS based Audi A1 model and added that the Audi S1 will remain the fastest hatch they had to offer but seeing how successful the Ford Focus RS is right now must have made them realize that they are missing out.
New reports are now suggesting that Audi is working to build an Audi RS1 model that will be coming in with a 2.0-liter turbo four engine that will be pushing out about 292hp and 280lb ft of torque. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
If Audi does decide to build an Audi RS1, the new hot hatch will be coming in to compete with the Ford Focus RS model. While it does seem like Audi might have the upper hand since it is the more premium model, the Ford Focus RS do seems to have a better chance of winning.
Not only will be the Ford Focus RS come in with a smaller price tag but it is also more powerful thanks its 350hp engine.
