Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag is going to be in 1080p on the PS4 and it should be breath-taking.
However anyone who wants to see the game in full 1080p will have to download a title update, but the good news is that it should come out just after release.
Even if you don’t have the update there is no doubt that the game is stunning when played on the next gen console said UBI. The graphics are that good that you may not even notice the difference in 1080p. This is due to the fact that when shipped the game does happen to be rendered in next gen style that is close to 1080p, actually 900p. This means that the up scaling doesn’t change much.
The Associate producer Sylvain Trottier said “If it’s running at 720p vs 1080p, you’re going to notice the difference, by far.” “But if it’s set at a resolution that’s very close, where most of the pixels are already there in internal processing, most people won’t see any difference.” Any difference seen would be subtle.
So the question is, why ship the game in 900p to start with? The answer to this is a simple one. To offer a game that is visually stunning while also having a game that offers 30fps. By making the game 900p this gave the development team the room needed when it comes to the CPU and GPU usage to make sure that the frame rate didn’t drop under 30fps. A title update was then worked on which was able to deliver 1080p resolution.
They then took things even further and worked on a new anti-aliasing technique. This with the full 1080p resolution meant that the graphics have been improved even more. An example of this would be the finer details which can be seen on the ropes of the ship. It is said that the new anti-aliasing will be available on the PS4 and the Xbox One.
