Apple unveiled a brand new, ultra-slim 12” MacBook at the Spring Forward event but it is a mistake to think of it as the MacBook Air. Instead, it is the revival of the MacBook line that was discontinued in the summer of 2011.
It is easy to understand why Apple has decided to revive the old MacBook line and this is because they wish to phase out the MacBook Air variants. With just the MacBook coming out with a slim structure as a standard, there is no longer a need for the Air.
When the conditioning of the consumers is completed, everyone will forget about the MacBook Air and refer to Apple’s laptops as either the MacBook or MacBook Pro. Such a move will also mean well for marketing since calling the new-generation of MacBook Air as MacBook Air 2 will sound weird.
