When it comes to Apple, everything has to be controlled and exclusive. This explains why there aren’t many accessories from a variety of brands that are able to optimize the iPhones and iPads.
Well, the recent Made For iPhone summit that took place in China confirms that this will no longer be the case as Apple is making it more open for OEM to produce the iPhone’s lightning ports.
Of course, Apple will still be practicing some control by making sure that the OEM must meet the strict Made For iPhone standards and use the lightning ports as how Apple wished for them to be utilized.
Prior to this, there are already many third-party lightning ports available through unofficial means but they couldn’t match the performance of the real lightning port from Apple. The technology was introduced back in 2012 to replace the old 30-pin connecter with an 8-pin model.
