Back in September 2013, Apple launched the iPhone 5S and it became one of the most popular smartphones in history. Then again, the same can be said for the iPhone 6, which was released last September. Now, should or should not iPhone 5S users upgrade to the iPhone 6?
The answer is no and to understand why, one is required to compare the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S. The former is larger as it boasts a 4.7” display that also allows one-handed usage thanks to the Reachability software tweak. Meanwhile, the iPhone 5S comes with a 4” display. Both smartphones have 326ppi to offer.
Underneath the casings, the iPhone 6 is powered by the 64-bit A8 chip that is proven to be 25% faster and 50% better graphics than the older A7 chips, which is equipped on the iPhone 5S. The iPhone 6 is offered with 16, 64 or 128GB of internal memory whereas the iPhone 5S is offered with 16,32 or 64GB of internal memory.
Then there is the difference in battery life. Surprisingly, the iPhone 5S can actually last longer despite coming with a smaller 1560mAh battery. The old smartphone can basically play videos non-stop for 14:31hours. The iPhone 6, on the other hand, has a 1810mAh battery that is able to last for 12:58hours.
Judging from the specs above, it is pretty clear that the iPhone 6 is better on almost every front. However, the difference between it and the iPhone 5S is still viewed as subtle. This is why we highly recommend iPhone 5S users to stay away from the iPhone 6 and jump straight to the iPhone 7 instead.
