As we all know, the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS is able to support smartphones with a small memory. In today’s world, the smallest memory around is probably 1GB RAM. If so, what about the old great devices?
The Nexus 4 in particular is a great device back in its prime. The smartphone by Google is still capable of running the KitKat. As such, users of the Nexus 4 will definitely get their hands on this latest OS. After all, Google did reveal that the Nexus 4 will expire in May. Expect the update to arrive before the end of this month.
Then there is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3. Both devices were released back in 2012. The Korean company has this 18-months policy and despite the S3 already passed that mark, Samsung has included it for the KitKat update. The Note 2 is also pending for the KitKat. This will be the last update for both smartphones and it will roll out before the end of May.
Finally is the Xperia series from Sony. The Xperia Z variants are all eligible for the KitKat update. Heck, they are still fresh from the oven and might just last until the future Lollipop OS. As for the Sony Xperia SP, T, TX and V, the KitKat will be the last update for these devices. On the other hand, Sony claims that they are still investigating it.
