The latest Android 5.0 Lollipop is not just a revolution for Android users. It is also a big happening for developers as well. This is because of the fact that the latest OS allows more access on hardwares than any previous OS.
Just recently, our technician ran the developer’s edition of Android 5.0 Lollipop and found himself in the core of the rear camera hardware. Our guy managed to customize to camera’s sensor settings and white balance prior to taking a picture.
The result is a digital camera that is worked manually, thus further improving the quality of the photos snap. This is something previous Android OS has failed to offer due to everything being fixed and automated by the manufacturer.
The flaws to this are that images captured tend to be large in size due to their raw quality. On the positive note, it gives developers access to the camera, thus creating the possibility to create a third-party camera app that can improve on the picture quality taken. The latter is something which is already practiced by Apple.
Of course, most consumers won’t be interested to turn the smartphone into a sophisticated professional camera. All they want is high quality images that can be captured in a quick, simple point and snap method. Otherwise, they can always purchase a DSLR.
