The latest update to KitKat is Kitkat 4.4.2 and it came out alongside the Nexus 5 last year. Of course there are many Android handsets on the market and this is where it can cause some confusion as to which will get updates.
The majority of confusion lies with Sony, Samsung and Motorola handsets. So with this in mind, to clear things up we have done the homework on your behalf.
Let’s take a look at Motorola handsets first. Those who own the Moto X along with Razr handsets will be ok as they are getting updated to KitKat 4.4.2. However when it comes to the Moto X, sadly it is only available for those on AT&T.
The Sony Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and the Xperia Z Ultra are also getting updated to KitKat, we heard this by way of the Sony blog. It was also said that the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 will all be getting updated, and the update is to take place during Q1 and Q2.
It is looking as though there is going to be a delay when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S3 getting the update. We heard from Samsung Saudi Arabia along with Samsung Poland that the update was cancelled. Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are to get the update in selected countries only. Owners of the Note 3 don’t have to worry as they are getting updated.
There has been a lot of confusion over what devices will be updated; this has been due to the fact that the update does come with support for devices with low memory. With each day that passes people should keep their fingers crossed that there won’t be any more changes to the roadmap of KitKat.
