Many Samsung devices are apparently saying goodbye to Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Amongst these devices are the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 1. Google have announced that Android 4.4 KitKat will be released in October. This will include an updated Linux kernel that will support handsets which have low memory. So will your device or handset be one of those that gets to enjoy KitKat?
Back in March SamMobile posted a list which provided information about which Samsung Galaxy handsets that would be receiving Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and which ones would get Android 5. An insider who was apparently from Samsung stated that the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Note 1 would both be getting the Jelly Bean 4.2.2update and that it would be the final one.
The devices are both upgradeable to Jelly Bean 4.1.2, which originally had Android 2.3 and ICS. It has been said that Samsung will be updating five devices to Key Lime Pie.
However Google revealed Android 4.4 KitKat rather than Android 5, and not Key Lie Pie, which had been said to be an internal reference to KitKat. AndroidCentral has heard that work is being done on an updated Linux kernel. Apparently the Linux Kernel gives us fantastic features. These include flash-Friendly File-System Support, full support on NVIDIA Tegra and Samsung Exynos DRM drivers and lower memor footprint which is crucial to support more handsets.
