HTC has released the brand new One M8 last week and despite it to be the best looking smartphone yet; there is a stench of fear for it to be a failure. After all, the company has once again recorded another quarterly loss with the old HTC One which leaves the successor in doubt.
It is hard to swallow for HTC as the One is among the most outstanding phone in its prime. It has received many awards and recognition. HTC blamed it on poor marketing and supply woes.
Analyst Daniel Gleeson confirmed this by claiming that the HTC One is great but it was unfortunate to have a sub-par marketing. The fault is with the tiny budget allocated to marketing in HTC. This isn’t the case with both Samsung and Apple.
Daniel continued by blaming the marketing message, which can be misleading. Daniel also hopes for HTC to focus more on the One M8’s marketing techniques in order to avoid a repeated scenario.
Then, there is HTC’s mistake to focus entirely on the higher end market instead of tapping into a solid mid-tier device. Last year alone, there wasn’t a mid-range smartphone from HTC. The company were perhaps too late with the HTC One Mini.
Nevertheless, the HTC One M8 looks to do justice to its predecessor. HTC has already launched the Desire 601 which will be a great alternative. The One M8 is also looking good in its inventory. All that is left is play the marketing cards right and improvise for the One M8.
