There is no doubt that the Toyota Supra is coming as Toyota has already made it clear that they will be working with BMW to build the new Supra as well as the BMW X5. The question now is whether Mazda will build a new Mazda RX-9 to compete with the Toyota Supra.
Well, it is not that it is not going to happen at all but to make it happen, Mazda will need to have the right engine. It has been reported that Mazda is working on a new rotary engine and if they succeed, the Mazda RX-9 dream might become a reality.
Some people believe that the Mazda RX-9 will be coming in with a 1.6 liter SkyActive-R Wankel engine that will be delivering about 400hp. There are also rumors about Mazda possibly showing off the prototype at the Tokyo Auto Show.
The fact now is that nobody really knows if there is going to be a new RX model but we are hoping that there will be.
