There are more than one reason why the Subaru WRX STi is slipping further behind and with new competitors like the Ford Focus RS in the market, they will have to up their game if they don’t want to get left behind. Here is what Subaru has to do to make sure the WRX STi stay on top of the pack.
One of the problems with the Subaru WRX STi is its dated design. The WRX STi is in need of an exterior upgrade and luckily for us, they seem to be working on it. With the Subaru Impreza now coming in with a new design, it won’t be long before we see the WRX STi adapt to the new design.
Then there is the performance issue. The Subaru WRX STi came in as one of the top affordable performance models in the market but their competitors have already caught up to them. The new Ford Focus RS will deliver about 350hp while the WRX STI only delivers about 305hp right now.
Some people are hoping that the new model will come with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that will allow the WRX STi to at least push out 323hp.
