Fans dream of the day when they get to see the Mazda RX-9 and the Toyota Supra battle it out on the track. Since Toyota have already confirmed the Toyota Supra, half of that dream is almost a reality but Mazda had to come in to crush it all.
When Mazda announce that they have a team working on the rotary engine, everybody assumes that an RX-9 is going to be part of their future plan but Mazda has since announced that they have no plans to build a new sports car that is bigger than the Mazda MX-5.
Since the RX-9 is bigger than the MX-5, that means we can forget about seeing it. Mazda seems to be going back and forth with the RX-9 but it looks like they might have finally made up their mind.
Well, at least Toyota is happy that they won’t have to face Mazda when their Supra arrives.
