We got to see Kia latest electric powered model at the Chicago Auto Show after the took the covers off the new Kia Niro. The Kia Niro, which is expected to arrive later this year will be running on a hybrid engine.
The Kia Niro will be running on a 1.6 GDI four-cylinder engine that will be paired with the electric motors. According to Steve Kosowski, the project manager for Kia Niro, the Kia Niro will not only be getting hybrid model hinting that an EV model is the works.
He added that the other engine option will only be arriving later in the lifecycle which suggests that the EV model might come in as a 2018 model. He also admitted that the electric vehicle market is changing and that there is a lot of investment happening but they are not willing to announce anything right now yet.
