The Toyota Prius might be ugly but they still managed to impress us all with their fuel efficiency but things might change soon as new report suggest that the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel model could come with an even better fuel efficiency.
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback diesel model will be coming in with a hybrid 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual or a nine-speed auto transmission.
We know that the Opel/ Vauxhall Astra was fitted with a similar powertrain and it could offer about 45.8mpg with the six-speed manual. The numbers should be a little higher with the nine-speed auto transmission. That is why some people believe that the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel hybrid model might be able to offer about 50mpg on the highway with the auto transmission.
The current Toyota Prius is able to offer about 53mpg in the city and 58mpg on the highway which means it still has a slight advantage but the consumers might ignore the small advantage and go for the better looking Cruze at the end of the day.
