After the Volkswagen diesel scandal, you would think that we will be seeing fewer diesel models in the US but it looks like automakers are not giving up on them yet. We know that BMW have been trying to bring their diesel powered model over into the US and after all the testing, EPA has finally given them the green light and Chevrolet is hoping to join them with the Chevrolet Cruze diesel model.
According to Automotive News, Chevrolet will be offering a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze diesel compact sedan next year. They added that the new Cruze which will be running on the 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine will be “whisper quiet”. It is estimated that the diesel-powered Cruze will be release next year.
It is believed that the success of the diesel-powered trucks, the Colorado and the GMC Canyon gave them the confidence to continue on with their diesel plans here in the US.
Do you think the US market is ready to start trusting diesel engines once more? GM and BMW sure think so.
