If you were to look at the type, the Subaru WRX should be going up against the Ford Focus but with what Subaru has to offer right now, they might want to set their sight on an easier target.
The Ford Focus might be too tough of an opponent but the Ford Fiesta ST could be just the right rival. The current Ford Fiesta ST comes in with a 1.6 liters 4 cylinder engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine will be offering about 197hp and 202lb ft of torque and will return about 35mpg on the highway and 26mpg in the city.
The Ford Fiesta ST model will also be fitted with standard safety features like post-collision safety system, fog lights, dusk-sensing headlights and more.
The current Subaru WRX, on the other hand, will come with a 2.0 liter flat 4 engine that will be offering about 286hp and will be mated to a six-speed transmission. It will return about 20mpg in the city and 27mpg on the highway and will come with standard safety features like DRL, traction control, emergency braking, tire pressure monitoring and more.
The Ford Fiesta ST will retail for $21,460 while the Subaru WRX will retail for $26,695.
