Hyundai will be offering a new EV model this year called the Hyundai Ioniq. The Ioniq which will come with a plug-in option, as well as a hybrid option, will have an electric range of 110miles but Hyundai is looking to double that number by 2020.
Of course, the longer range model will most likely not be the Ioniq but it is clear that Hyundai will be working to offer an EV model with a longer electric range. According to Automotive News, Ahn Byung-ki said that Hyundai will be working with Kia and Genesis to come out with a few longer range model.
We should be seeing a 200miles electric range model in 2018 as well as a 250miles electric range model by 2020. Although these new models will offer more in terms of range, Hyundai is confident that their arrival will not affect the sales of the Hyundai Ioniq as they will be coming with a bigger price tag.
