With the demand for trucks on the rise here in the US, it makes sense that Ford would want to have a truck of their own to compete with models like the Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Tacoma, and the Colorado.
Ford have not made any announcement yet but many believe that Ford might have already decided that the Ford Ranger will be the one. The rumor started after spies spotted the Ford Ranger getting tested here in the US.
It is believed that Ford will start building their truck in 2017 at their Michigan plant once their Ford C-Max and Ford Focus contract ends. There were also talk about Ford looking to build the Bronco at the same plant a year after the Ford Ranger.
The Ford Ranger did not do so well in the US in the past which was why it was taken out of the US line up but maybe things will be slightly different this time around.
