The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 was supposed to be the ultimate off-road truck from Chevrolet but the numbers certainly do not support that.
The standard Chevrolet Colorado has a tow rating of 500pounds right now and while we were not expecting the ZR2 to top that, we were hoping that it would match that but Chevrolet has just revealed that the model’s tow rating is going to be 2000pounds less.
According to Chevrolet, the higher lift of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR1, as well as the higher track meant that the Colorado ZR2 will not be able to have such a high towing rate.
While the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 might not be a towing king, the upgrades made to the model will turn it into a rock crawling beast and for some, that alone is more than enough.
The new Colorado ZR2 will be powered by a 3.6liter V6 engine that will be mated to the HydraMatic eight-speed auto transmission. It will be offering about 308hp and 275lb ft of torque. There s also a diesel option as well.
