It looks like you might be able to go further with the BMW i3 now as new reports suggest that BMW is looking to increase the range of the BMW i3 when the 2017 model arrives.
According to Automotive News, the 2017 BMW i3 will offer about 120miles of range when it arrives. The current model offers about 81miles of range so 120miles will be a huge upgrade from the current model.
It is believed that BMW will be working on improving the density of the battery as well as the software and electronics of the BMW i3 so that it will be able to go further.
Offering more range is definitely good news but only if BMW does make it happen although 120miles is still a lot less than some of the newly announce electric powered models like the new Chevrolet Bolt but that is a whole other story.
