Volkswagen will be releasing the upgraded 2017 Volkswagen Golf R soon but before that happens, let’s see if the current Volkswagen Golf R is able to take on the newcomer, the Ford Focus RS.
The Ford Focus RS will be coming in with a 2.3 liter inline 4 engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine will be delivering about 350hp and 350lb ft of torque. The Ford Focus RS will come with safety features like DRL, cornering lights, fog lights and more
The Volkswagen Golf R, on the other hand, will come in with a 2.0 liter inline 4 engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Golf R will deliver about 292hp and 280lb ft of torque and will return about 22mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway. The Golf R will also come fitted with safety features like dusk sensing headlights, traction control, stability control and more.
Things are not looking great for the Golf R right now but things might change when the 2017 model arrives.
