It is no secret that Toyota is producing the next-gen Hilux and it is due to arrive late next year but fans simply have no idea on what the upcoming pickup truck has got to offer.
That was the case until today, when spy shots of the upcoming Toyota Hilux got leaked into the internet to give the first hints on its offering. When looking at the image, one might not be able to learn much due to the thick camouflage but we can be certain that the Hilux is larger than its predecessor.
On the other hand, the horizontal grille, narrow headlamps and semi-oval lower bumper gives us the impression that the Hilux is going to have a lot in common with the upcoming Tacoma. This is something totally new and different from the Hilux as it adopts a more American traditional pickup appearance.
Perhaps, the Hilux is Toyota’s answer to the highly threatening Chevrolet Colorado. The latter has enjoyed an explosive success partly due to it being super-efficient. If so, we won’t be surprised if Toyota goes crazy and turn the next-gen Hilux into a hybrid beast. Besides, the Tacoma is already confirmed to come with a hybrid powertrain.
Of course, things are still too early to predict and is best to wait until the Hilux gets fully unveiled. Until then, we will just have to pamper ourselves with the spy shots.
