More and more automakers are looking to come out with electric powered models of their own. How will the BMW i8 perform against the Tesla Model S?
The BMW i8 will be powered by a 1.5-liter engine that will be paired with an electric I-3 motor. The engine will be delivering about 357hp and will be mated to a 6-speed auto transmission. The BMW i8 should offer about 15miles of electric range and it should be returning about 76mpg combined. The BMW i8 will come with safety features like parking aid, tire pressure monitor, backup camera and more.
The Tesla Model S, on the other hand, will come with an electric engine that will be powered by a 70kWh battery. The engine will be mated to a 1-speed direct drive transmission and will be delivering about 382hp. The engine will offer about 230miles of range on a full charge. The standard model will come with safety features like stability control, parking aid, tire pressure monitor and more.
The BMW i8 will retail for $140,700 while the Tesla Model S will retail for $70,000.
