At this point in time, things are not looking too good for the Subaru WRX STi. Don’t get us wrong, the WRX STi is still a great performance model but with what it has to offer right now, the Subaru WRX STi will be struggling to keep up with their rivals like the Ford Focus RS.
Under the hood of the Subaru WRX STi is a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine that will be delivering about 305hp and will be returning about 17mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway. While the numbers on their own do not look so bad, it is nowhere near what their rival the Focus RS will be offering.
The slow progress rate is said to be the reason why the Subaru WRX STi is falling further behind. The Subaru WRX STi started out with a 300hp engine and 12 years later, it is offering about 305hp. Of course, if was given a few other upgrades but overall, its progress has been very slow.
If they plan to compete with the other models in the market, they might want to rethink their upgrade strategy.
