As amazing as the 2016 Subaru WRX STI is, it is still lacking in performance if you compare it with some of the performance models in the market and Subaru is also aware of that. That is probably why they’ve decided to give the Subaru WRX STI a performance update.
We know that Subaru is planning to upgrade their engine lineup. It is believed that Subaru might be planning to offer the upcoming Subaru WRX STI with the new 2.0-liter engine.
The new engine will be making its debut under the hood of the Japan model first before making its way to the rest of the market. The 2.0-liter turbo boxer engine will be delivering about 304hp and 311lb ft of torque.
There were also talk about Subaru thinking about releasing a hybrid-powered model as well but we will have to wait and see if that happens or now. So if you are planning to get yourself a Subaru WRX STI and is in no hurry to get one, you might want to wait for the next one.
