FCA has just issued a new safety campaign that will be affecting the Ram 1500 after it was determined that an issue with the power steering on the Ram 1500 might cause the power steering to fail, making things more difficult for the driver.
According to the report, a small group of modules that controls the electric power steering might have been contaminated causing the power steering assist to fail. While drivers might find the steering stiffer, the steering will still be working.
Affected models will be the 2015 and 2016 Ram 1500. It is estimated that about 514 units of the Ram 150 might be affected by the safety campaign. Markets that are affected includes the US, Canada, Mexico as well as NAFTA.
Owners of affected models will be contacted by FCA. If the problem does exist, the necessary repairs will be done for free. No report on whether the issue has cause any injuries or accidents.
