The Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² is a champion off-road, even from the factory. It offers 415 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. It would seem though that still isn’t enough for the power-thirsty people over at Brabus. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 along with the company’s new tuning kit, raises things to 493 hp with a fantastic 523 pound-feet of torque. As well as that, consumers can make their SUV appear even fiercer by ordering a range of extras. Everything will be displayed during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Brabus’ custom control module used to change the management of the engine is the main upgrade, as it changes boost pressure as well as the mapping for the fuel injection and ignition. The vehicle has a stainless steel exhaust with butterflies as well which, by pressing a button, switches between a suitably name “Coming Home” mode and “Sport” mode. The chrome tailpipes add something special to the appearance as well.
Even after Brabus’ large boost, the off-road tires used on the G500 4×4² still aren’t super fast. It now takes 6.9 seconds to travel to 62 miles per hour and the top speed is limited to 130 mph due to the rubber.
Brabus also offer a wild body kit for the G500 for consumers who like to show off. It comes with polished underbody guards as new bumpers that are lower. The hood grows a scoop and the headlight update includes black-tinted Xenon lights along with LED turn signals instead of the units which are normally found on the fenders. In the interior, the bold changes include a combination of quilted leather, Alcantara and vibrant red stitching.
