Until somebody actually puts the two on a track and test it out, we will never know for sure which model is the faster top of the range muscle car.
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT comes running on a 5.2 liter V8 engine that will be mated to a six-speed transmission. The Ford Mustang Shelby GT will be delivering about 526hp and 429lb ft of torque.
The Chevrolet Camaro SS, on the other hand, will be running on an LT1 V8 engine that will be delivering about 455hp. The Camaro SS might have fewer ponies to offer but it is also smaller and lighter compared to the Ford Mustang Shelby GT.
A recent interview with Al Oppenheiser also suggested that the Camaro chief engineer thinks that the Camaro SS is faster than the Shelby GT but since he is the chief engineer behind the Camaro his opinion might be a little bias.
