Ford are responsible for building a whole range of performance machinery, however its traditionally kep the letters ST for hot hatches like the Focus ST and the Fiests ST. That is about to change with the following vehicle: the very camouglaged Fusion ST.
The prototype comes withupgrade brake rotors and calipers, larger wheels and tires, quad exhaust tips and enhanced bodywork. These all indicate something more capable and robust. The performance version of Dearborn’s midsize sedan is said to include a version of the company’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. This is expected to give around 300 horsepower to all four-wheels using a six-speed automatic transmission, however we can keep our fingers crossed that there is a possibility Ford may offer a three-pedal manual.
Either way the Fusion ST will be an excellent successor for the old Contour SVT. This model came out in the late 1990s with a 2.5-liter Duratec V6 complete with 202 horsepower, which back then was a great vehicle, but is nothing compared to this new model. Keep your eyes open for the Fusion ST to join the facelifted Fusion sedan at the beginning of next year. Excited fans from other markets can also keep their fingers crossed for a Modeo ST to become available overseas too.
