The Volkswagen Golf R has always been the top choice of speed junkies but with all the upgrades the Ford Focus RS will be coming in with, the Gold R might find themselves trailing behind Ford this year.
The Volkswagen Golf R currently comes with a 2.0 liter inline 4 engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine will push out about 292hp and 280lb ft of torque and will return about 22mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway.
The Ford Focus RS will be powered by a 2.3 liter inline 4 engine that will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The engine will be delivering about 350hp and 350lb ft of torque which mean the Focus RS is a lot more powerful that the Golf R.
The Golf R will come with standard safety features like traction control, stability control and dusk sensing headlights while the Ford Focus RS will come with DRL, fog lights, cornering lights and more.
The Volkswagen Golf R will retail for $38,950 while the Ford Focus RS will retail for $41,680.
