With models like Ford Focus RS now competing here, models like the Subaru WRX STi might suddenly find the climb getting a lot harder.
The Subaru WRX STi comes in with a 305hp engine that will be delivering about 290lb ft of torque and that is way behind what the Ford Focus RS has to offer. The Ford Focus RS will be delivering about 350hp and 350lb ft of torque with its 2.3 liters 4 cylinder engine.
Not only is the WRX STI losing out in terms of performance but it is also losing out in terms of fuel economy. The Subaru WRX STi will return about 17mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway while the Ford Focus RS will return about 20mpg in the city and 29mpg on the highway.
The Subaru WRX STi will also need 4.7 seconds to go from 0-60mph with a top speed of 159mph while the Ford Focus RS will only need 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 165mph. The Subaru WRX STi is however slightly cheaper retailing for $35,490 while the Ford Focus RS retails for $36,605.
