Crossovers have been a popular choice this year which means that carmakers have had to ensure that their SUV’s are attractive to their customers. The 2015 Ford Edge was one vehicle to join in on the crossover hype and sales have been excellent ever since Ford launched it onto the market 8 years ago.
There was an update for the Edge four years ago, but Ford had to release a new model if they wanted to remain in the competition. Tthe new model is the 2015 Ford Edge and it comes with a new exterior and interior and the drivetrains have been upgraded and it provides a better performance and is more fuel efficient.
A higher percentage of high strength steel has been used to create the body of the 2015 Ford Edge and it is 3 inches longer as well as 1.3 inches taller on the McPherson struts and its independent suspension. The suspension at the back is col sprung and the body roll is minimised by 20% thanks to a 23 millimetre antiroll bar.
The body of the car is a lot bigger providing more interior space and the cabin is far better thanks to the design and the quality of the materials used. The interior panels are tighter and the integration is better, the door panels and dash have been covered in a soft surface. The vehicle has plenty of staorage space which includes a centre console over two levels. The front and back seats are very spacious which gives the cabin a light and airly feel. Outside noise is also kept minimal due to the use of thicker glass.
The 2015 Ford Edge SE has a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine and for the SE variation the starting price is $28,995. Tthe engive gives 245 horses along with 275 of torque. It comes with 6 speed automatic transmission and the steering wheel has paddle shifters. You can get around 20mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway. For $1,495 you can include AWD. The SE also comes equipped with 18 inch wheels, LED taillights, six speaker audio, cloth seating and a rearview camera. You can get the 3.5 litre V6 engine for $29,420 which gives you 280 horse and 250 of torque. You should get around 18mpg in the city and roughly 28mpg on the highway.
For $32,395 you can get the 2015 Ford Edge SEL which comes in above the SE. This price gives you a reverse sensing system, leather covered steering wheel, 10 way power driver’s seat, heated mirror and much more. You can get the Titanium Trim Edge for $36,495 which includes more tech such as 19 inch wheels, HD radio, 12 speaker Sony Audio system, leather seating and the standard hands free power liftgate plus more.
For the the top of the range 2015 Ford Edge Sport the pricetag is $38,995 and this comes with the V6 2.7 litre EcoBoost engine which gives 315 horses and 350 of torque. The acceleration is fast and the EPA mileage in the city is around 18 and on the highway its roughly 27. It comes with unique exhaust tips, 20 inch wheels, lower cladding, leather seating and piano black on the grille.
