There was a time when the Toyota Prius was up there at the top but it looks like they are slipping further down now.
The Toyota Prius with the new 4 cylinder hybrid engine will be offering about 54mpg in the city and 50mpg on the highway. Those looking for more can also opt for the Toyota Prius Eco model which will return about 58mpg in the city and 53mpg on the highway.
While that looks good, the Chevrolet Volt has something even better to offer. The Chevrolet Volt will be coming in with a plug-in electric hybrid powertrain that will be returning about 52miles of electric range. Combined with the engine, the Chevrolet Volt will be returning about 106mpg. The Volt engine will need about 4.5 hours to charge up but that is nothing compared to what you will be getting in return. The Volt also looks better than the Prius so that is another win for the Volt.
