Diesel has never been that popular here in the US and most automakers would prefer not to offer their diesel powered models here in the US especially after the whole Volkswagen diesel scandal but not GM.
Despite all the drama, GM still insisted on offering their diesel powered Chevrolet Colorado here in the US. The Chevrolet Colorado came running on the 2.8-liter diesel engine that was mated to a six-speed auto transmission. The engine will be delivering about 181hp. The diesel powered model was also offered with two optional packages, the Midnight package, and the Trail Boss package. The diesel powered Chevrolet Colorado Duramax retailed for $38,835.
Besides the Colorado Duramax, they also brought out the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD High Country model which will come running on a 6.0 liter V8 engine that will be delivering about 360hp. There is also a 6.6-liter V8 diesel engine option that will be delivering about 397hp. The base model will retail for $53,740.
Depending on how success these models are, we might be seeing more diesel powered model coming from GM.
