Our hopes for having more diesel powered models here in the US were dashed after the whole Volkswagen diesel scandal incident. While most automakers decided to hold off their diesel plans for the US, GM decided to go ahead and offer the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax and diesel-powered Silverado here in the US.
The Chevrolet Colorado Duramax will be coming in with a 2.8-liter engine that will be mated to a six-speed auto transmission. The diesel engine will have an output of 181hp. The Chevrolet Colorado Duramax will come in with two optional packages, the Trail Boss as well as the Midnight package.
Besides the Colorado Duramax, Chevrolet also brought forward the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD High Country model. The vehicle will be powered by a 6.0 liter V8 engine that will be delivering about 360hp. There is also a 6.6 liter V8 engine that will be pushing out about 397hp.
The Chevrolet Colorado Duramax will retail for $38,835 while the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD High Country will retail for $53,740. Depending on how well these two model does in the market, we could be seeing a few more diesel powered models in the future.
