Come next year, a new Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift will be hitting the showrooms and while that may not be too far away, everybody is still clueless over what the upcoming SUV has got to offer. That is until earlier today when VW gives us a brief teaser on the next Tiguan.
For starters, the vehicle is built on the latest Modular platform. However, VW discovered that applying the new MQB architecture will see the Tiguan measuring at 1,808mm in width, which is too narrow. This is soon corrected after engineers applied a bigger wheelarches.
It gets better as the Tiguan will also enjoy the weight loss program that automatically comes with the MQB platform. We can expect the vehicle to be at least 70kg lighter than its predecessor. You can check out the image here.
Furthermore, the feather weight SUV will ensure more power is squeezed from the 1.6-liter TDI diesel engine which will offer 120hp. Customers can also choose the 1.4-liter TSI petrol base engines which comes in two variants. One is the 150hp TDI while the other is the 220 TSI taken from the Golf GTI.
Of course, details are still scarce at the moment and there is no telling on what sort of features will come with the VW Tiguan. For all we know, it will be released next year and will look to take over the segment.
