The latest Volkswagen Passat might look enticing and drive with power but the hype for it immediately died after the saloon completed its safety test. To the horror of many, the Passat failed to achieve 5-star for the rollover test and instead, scored a four-star.
However, the rollover test did not have any effect on the overall 5-star rating from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Then again, many simply see it as a failure.
In our books, 4-star is already superb as not many cars are well-equipped with the best safety features. Furthermore, NHTSA claims that the Passat has one of the lowest risk of rolling over, with figures standing at 10.7%.
If safety is truly a priority, consumers should opt for an armoured vehicle instead of a sedan. The Passat is as good as it gets for a premium saloon and there is no way to disregard that fact. The car is already released in Europe and will be making its way into the US late next-year.
