It is no secret that Volkswagen is busy producing the Golf Facelift but nobody has a clue that the upcoming sports hatchback is going to get some new design on its tail section as well.
Known as the Golf 400, the vehicle was unveiled at the recent Beijing Motor Show and VW confirmed that they will be making limited units of the car. Perhaps, this is Volkswagen’s answer to the threat brought by Honda’s upcoming Civic Type-R.
The Golf 400 will be built as a true performance hatchback. In fact, the 400 in its name is derived from the 400PS that the car will be producing through the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Of course, this is not as powerful as the VW Gold R 400. The latter has 100PS more to offer and will be able to sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The Gold R has a top speed of 280km/h, which is also 30km/h more than the Golf R.
Speaking of which, the Golf R 400 concept had just been spotted making its way to the upcoming Paris Motor Show. The spy shot shows the vehicle, having a totally different tail section that is much sportier and neater than before. We can’t wait for more details on the Golf R 400.
