It seems that the BRZ STI won’t be the only coupe coming soon as the Japanese carmaker is also lining up another coupe for the near future. The word came from an anonymous industry insider, who claimed that the mysterious coupe will be the revival of the SVX.
If you’ve lived through the 1990s era, you should know better that the SVX was among the hottest coupe in the period. It has always been a powerful vehicle and Subaru will surely ensure that the next coupe will offer something similar.
The next SVX will have its design inspired by the recent VIZIV-2 concept, with many characteristics of its predecessor. The insider further revealed that it will stand on the same platform as the Subaru Tribeca. This will bless the SVX with the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
As for power, Subaru will probably fit in a Boxer engine, which is also a hybrid. Of course, the green technology will be developed by Lexus since Subaru’s homemade hybrid is still not good enough to run a powerful motor. On the other hand, Subaru is partly owned by Toyota which probably give them instant access to the best hybrid resources in the world.
The SVX is truly something amazing worth looking forward to. However, Subaru has yet to announce anything as they are entirely focused with the BRZ STI. Soon, Subaru will surely unveil the SVX Concept to the world but this looks more than likely to happen after the BRZ STI gets released.
