For the past few motoring events, Nissan unveiled the Sports Sedan Concept (SSC). Now, the silence is broken as the Japanese carmaker went out to reveal that SSC will be the base model for the upcoming Maxima, which is due to arrive next year.
This is truly exciting as the Maxima will be looking to come with a spectacular design. On the downside of things, the final product will surely be a toned down version of the SSC. Nissan is aware of this and assured fans that they will stick as close as the study as possible when developing the Maxima.
If there is one thing we can be certain of, the upcoming vehicle is going to get a new front grille with the V shaped chrome bar, boomerang-shaped LED headlamps and a floating roof, which is borrowed from the Nissan GT-R.
Inside the cabin, the dashboard on the SSC is more angular, similar to the ones on the Ford Mustang. Also, there is the Friend-ME system and an infotainment touchscreen panel on the dashboard. These features are expected to be brought forward to the Maxima.
As for the engine, nobody has a got a clue on what the Maxima will run on. The SSC, on the other hand, is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine runs on the RWD architecture with an option of an AWD system as well.
Such a powertrain will surely put the Maxima in direct competition with the Dodge Charge and Ford Mustang if it gets equipped on the vehicle.
