It has finally been confirmed. The Sports Sedan Concept which was unveiled by Nissan will be the base model for the upcoming Maxima.
While no details were shared by Nissan, we can expect the Maxima to come equipped with all the goodness on the Sports Sedan Concept. This includes a new front grille with the V shaped chrome bar and boomerang shape LED lights. The Maxima will also come with a floating roof that is heavily inspired by the Nissan GT-R.
Inside the vehicle, the Sports Sedan Concept has the Friend-ME system, an infotainment screen, a more angular dashboard and keyless entry and go. We can expect all of these instruments ported to the Nissan Maxima as well.
Under the hood, the Concept is powered on a 3.5 liter V6 engine as it runs on the AWD system with an RWD option. This is made possible since the Concept is built on the D platform. Nothing has been confirmed on the sort of powertrain coming to the Maxima but we can expect it to be near-similar to the Concept.
If the Maxima is to stick as close as possible to the Sports Sedan Concept, then we can look forward to seeing the vehicle taking the fight to Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet SS and Toyota Avalon.
