The Porche 911 Turbo and the Jaguar F-Type R are about to get overwhelmed by the upcoming Mercedes AMG GT sports car. The roadster is confirmed to be coming in early 2015 and it will come in 2 variants.
First is the standard GT which will offer 456hp. Then there is the GT S which has 503hp to offer. Both variants runs on the RWD and is powered by the new turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Acceleration isn’t an issue for the AMG GT S as it can hit 100km/h in just 3.8s. The standard GT is two-tenths behind that.
The Mercedes AMG GT will retail at £110,000 and £120,000 for the GT S. It will surely be the highlight of every showroom as the car has a stunningly beautiful appearance. At a glance, the GT looks so much like the SLS but with a more retro styling.
Inside the cabin, the GT adopted the features from the latest C-Class. However, the GT has so many buttons that even reached out to the roof. There, drivers will find the switches to £120,000. There isn’t any back seat for other passengers. Instead, there will be a 350L boot space.
The handling is extraordinary for the GT as it comes with double wishbone suspension all-round that ensures constant grip to the road. The GT S gets adaptive dampers, which can be switched through Comfort, sport and Sport Plus using the AMG Dynamic Select system.
All in all, the Mercedes AMG GT is something really hot to look forward to. Porsche and Jaguar better start taking notes or they will fall behind this splendid roadster.
