Jeep has long been recognized for producing 4x4s that are powerful and sturdy but now, reports are suggesting that the American carmaker will be going soft. In a move to make the upcoming Wrangler as light as possible, Jeep is considering to use Aluminium for the vehicle’s body.
The upcoming Wrangler will be coming with a raked nose and sharper windscreen. Together with the aluminium frame, the next-generation Wrangler will be lighter and more aerodynamic than its predecessors. This will also mean that the Wrangler will be more powerful and fuel efficient than ever before.
Under the hood, the upcoming Wrangler is heavily linked to run on a four-cylinder diesel engine that is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The more gears on the latter will also improve on fuel mileage.
Then again, none of these have been officially confirmed by Jeep so it is best to take it with a pinch of salt. We will find out for sure when the 4×4 gets unveiled next year.
