We are months away from the release of the next-generation Civic Type-R. Even so, Honda kept on amplifying the hype after the Japanese carmaker unveils a new Type-R Concept during the recent Paris Motor Show.
The new concept looks exactly like the one which was unveiled earlier this year, except for the blue paintjob that with white and red graphics. Honda claims that the choice of styling was to cater the European taste.
It is no secret that the sports hatch is going to run on a new 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC engine that is tipped to produce 280PS at 276hp. However, Honda didn’t confirm the details. What the company did say is that the Type R will surely offer an unmatched performance.
Furthermore, Honda assured fans that the upcoming Civic Type-R won’t be short of thrill. The company utilized a traditional 6-speed manual transmission for the Civic Type-R that maximizes driving enjoyment.
The special feature on the upcoming Civic Type-R is the “+R” button which will rest on the steering wheel. Tapping on the button will make the car recalibrate the engine response, steering and the new four-point Adaptive Damper System. Basically, the +R button brings out the beast that the car has got to offer.
Finally is the new steer axis feature. Honda explained that it is a mechanical system added to the front suspension to minimize torque steer whenever the driver floor the pedal.
The excitement for the Honda Civic Type-R is clear. If it is to materialize like how it is described, then the world can look forward to a super powerful car that is also faster than the NSX.
