Ford might be one of the biggest automotive producers in the world but they also have a soft spot for fighter jets. This explains why Ford keeps on making a special aircraft-themed Mustang with each and every new model.
Now, Ford is auctioning away its most prized collection to aid the EAA Young Eagles Program. Among the vehicles listed on the auction are the SR-71 Mustang, Red Tails Mustang, Blue Angels Mustang and the Thunderbird Mustang.
The auctioning will be happening at the end of the month and it will also set up the stage for the all-new F-35 Lightning 2 Mustang. The latter is based on the upcoming 2015 Mustang and will definitely be the centre of attraction.
The muscle car sports titanium paint which has yellow-and-blue trims on it. The decals are heavily inspired by the CF-1, which was the first F-35 aircraft. The most noticeable feature is the carbon-fiber front splitter and rear diffuser. Inside the vehicle, the Mustang is fitted with Recaro seats. The vehicle stands on some unique wheels and is finished with a large rear spoiler.
Of course, there is no telling on how much the upcoming specially made Mustang will cost but we can expect it to go past the $400 grand mark. The F-35 Mustang is expected to be powered by the same mill as the upcoming model.
