With the latest Ford Edge concept we saw a Santa Fe lookalike and it’s headed for Europe.
The Edge will be a notch up from the EcoSport compact crossover SUV and the Kuga midi-SUV. The vehicle may well go into production in 2015 and speculation suggests that it will be based on a Mondeo/Fusion platform.
It’s a sleek-looking SUV, with an aerodynamic fascia up front and a BMW-style air-curtain on the front bumper. It’ll also feature Ford’s Active grille shutters that help to maintain engine temperature and increase aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside the Edge there’s a ten-inch touchscreen which houses Ford’s voice controls as well as the Ford SYNC. Beneath this display is an array of buttons to control the rest of the car. There’s also a fully-assisted parking aid and an obstacle avoidance system. The parking aid helps drivers to get in and out of car parks and the avoidance system tells drivers about upcoming obstacles and automatically brakes or steers the Edge if the driver doesn’t do so in time.
