Honda’s luxury arm, Acura, has produced the TLX and it is the direct replacement for the TSX and TL model. However, is the TLX something worth to be excited about?
In terms of design, the TLX has little lines running across its body which is something really great. It also allows the Jewel Eye LED headlights to become the main attraction of its design. In between the headlamps is where the grille is and the feature is rather small in size.
Under the hood, the TLX is powered by a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder engine that is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. This enables the car to generate 206hp. On the other hand, consumers can opt for the top of the line 3.5-liter V-6 with a 9-speed automatic.
The thing about the 4-cylinder engine is that it behaves really well. The motor is quiet at all times. When we are hitting the high-revs, the motor only lets out a gentle growl that is gentle to our ears.
Handling-wise, the TLX did superbly well despite the fact that it drives on the FWD architecture with Acura’s Precision All-Wheel Steer system. This allows the TLX to tilt the rear wheels in order to achieve more grips and a more precise steering.
Then again, that is all the TLX has got to offer. There is simply nothing special about the vehicle despite Acura’s stance as Honda’s luxury wing. The carmaker needs to start taking some notes from close rival, Lexus.
