Suzuki have revealed the global sales of the Swift and they have now gone past the four million mark, shortly after the car maker celebrated the fact that they had gone past the three million. Around the world 11% of sales have been in Japan, 50% in India, 19% around Europe and the Swift is seen on the roads in more than 140 countries and achieved 70 awards.
It was first built in 2004 in Japan and then production expanded to India, China and Hungary in 2005. This followed on to Malaysia in 2007, Pakistan in 2009, Thailand in 2012 and just recently in Vietnam.
The Swift is going to be available in three and five door versions and there will be a 1.2 petrol engine that offers 116g/km CO2, it has the five star Euro NCAP rating and ownership comes with low cost. If you would like a sportier version there is the 1.6 litre Swift Sport. This is the flagship performance version of the Swift which offers higher levels of tuning along with braking and steering performance over the standard version of the Swift.
The range of cars now have DAB digital radio, satellite navigation on the Swift and SZ4 models, gear shift indicator and tyre pressure monitor system. All version apart from the Sport come with daytime running lights along with fog lights on the front.
Swift SZ-L recently re-introduced an initial production run earlier in the year. This was based on the 1.2 litre SZ3, with the SZ-L having a metallic paint in two tone, the Boost Blue or the Cosmic Black with the Cool White roof, rear spoiler and mirrors on the doors.
