The Leipzig plant in Germany is where Porsche produced the Panamera, Cayenne, Carrera GT and the latest, Macan Turbo. Just last week, we paid the facility a visit and was shocked to learned that the Macan Turbo has about 280 orders, thus stretching the waiting period to until the end of this year.
The Macan Turbo is the latest SUV to come from Porsche and it comes with larger air scoops and quad squared tailpipes. The fact that the Macan Turbo offers a low seating position make drivers feel like they are driving a sports car, not an off-roader.
Inside the vehicle, we learned that the Macan Turbo has a floating centre console. Underneath the panel is where the many buttons and switches are.
Under the hood, the Macan Turbo is able to produce 400bhp along with 550Nm of torque. Despite weighing at 1.9 tonnes, the luxury SUV is able to sprint from knots to 100km/h in an impressive time of 4.8 seconds. The thing that surprised us most is the Macan’s handling. While it may be an SUV by make, the Macan is able to swerve through the bends like a super sports car.
This special feat is partly owed to the Macan’s architecture which minimizes body rolls. Also, the steering is pretty crisp which response quickly and precisely.
Then again, owning a Macan Turbo can really cut a hole in your wallet, even if you can afford it. The vehicle retails at $100,000, and is tailored for the ultra-rich society.
